Tech – Kerio Mailserver

About Kerio Connect

Kerio Connect (previously known as Kerio MailServer) was a popular choice of mail server for creative businesses due to the server being able to run on macOS X server. Compared to Microsoft Exchange it was very easy to setup and worked with the stock Apple email, calendar and contacts apps that are included as part of macOS X.

I no longer advocate the use of Kerio Connect.

My Experience with Kerio Connect

I started using Kerio MailServer in around 2002 after migrating a publishing company away from QuickMail Pro. The company had several installations of QuickMail Pro for their offices and at the time would only work on computers in that same office. Moving to Kerio Mailserver it became a central email server for all of the offices and was accessible from remote using Apple Mail or Webmail.

Over the years I did several migrations and upgrades of Kerio MailServer but eventually started moving clients to either Microsoft Office 365 or Google Workspace. My last migration of Kerio Connect to Google Workspace was as recent as April 2023 and that was the last Kerio Mail Server that I was supporting.
